More Space for Stories
The Marathon Public Library is excited to announce the launch of “More Space for Stories,” a community fundraising campaign with a goal of $30,000. The funds will be used to replace fixed cabinetry and heavy shelving in the children’s department with modern, mobile furniture designed to grow alongside Marathon’s youngest readers.
As a central hub for the residents of Marathon and Biigtigong Nishnaabeg, the library has seen a significant increase in attendance for youth workshops and interactive programs. The current layout, while beloved, often reaches capacity quickly. This campaign aims to solve that by introducing a versatile, “on-wheels” environment.
The transition to mobile furniture will allow the library to:
Expand Program Capacity: Easily clear the floor to accommodate larger crowds for high-demand events and storytimes.
Create Flexible Zones: Rapidly shift from a quiet “book browsing” layout to an open “free play” space.
Enhance Safety & Flow: Improve sightlines and accessibility for parents, caregivers, and staff.
Members of the community can make a donation at the library’s front desk or online. Every dollar raised goes directly to enhancing our programming space.
Corporate Partnership Opportunities
Local businesses are invited to leave a lasting legacy through four sponsorship tiers, focusing on high-visibility, functional recognition within the library:
| Tier Level | Investment | Recognition & Benefits |
| Storybook Patron | $5,000+ | Legacy Placement: A dedicated brass nameplate affixed to a major mobile shelving unit, plus lead recognition in all print newsletters. |
| Literacy Leader | $2,500 | The “Foundation” Recognition: A permanent engraved nameplate on one of the new mobile activity tables or a set of mobile program chairs. |
| Community Builder | $1,000 | The “Adopt-a-Crate” Honor: Business logo prominently displayed on toy/book bins used daily by families. |
| Friend of the Library | $500 | Social Media Spotlight: A dedicated “Thank You” highlight on the library’s Facebook page and inclusion on the campaign banner. |
